On the occasion of 180th anniversary of the original establishment of the State Audit Institution of Serbia, a high-level event was organised in Belgrade on 24-26 July 2024, at which the State Audit Office of Hungary was represented by its Vice-President, Dr. Csaba Szomolai.
The ceremony was organized to commemorate the 180th anniversary of 26 July 1844, the date of the establishment of the Auditor General function, which is considered to be the predecessor of today’s State Audit Institution. The agenda of the celebratory conference covered wide range of topics such as the importance of public auditing, trends of development and mutual cooperation of Supreme Audit Institutions and the benefits and utilization of SAI’s audit work.
The SAO Hungary and its Serbian counterpart maintain close professional relations. Currently, cooperation between the two organisations is taking place in the context of the coordinated audit of the UN Sustainable Development Goal 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation).
