The audit of the National Bank of Hungary has been completed

The report of the State Audit Office of Hungary (SAO) on the audit of MNB (the central bank of Hungary) is now public. The audit focused mainly on real estate investments made by MNB through the business companies it set up. According to the SAO, the MNB did not always meet the requirements of economical operation, and the controls over its financial management were not fully fulfilled.

SAO report on the audit of the Neumann János University Foundation is now available

The State Audit Office of Hungary (SAO) audited the investments of the Neumann János University Foundation in long-term debt securities. The SAO found that the investments did not comply with the requirements of responsible financial management. The SAO made recommendations to the auditees and also filed a criminal complaint for suspected mismanagement of public assets.

The State Audit Office of Hungary has made the report on the management of the Pallas Athéné Domus Meriti Foundation (PADME) public

The State Audit Office of Hungary audited, among other things, whether the Foundation’s assets were managed in accordance with the requirements of responsible financial management. The SAO found a number of shortcomings in this area, therefore it made recommendations to the auditees and filed a criminal complaint for suspected mismanagement of public assets.

The SAO’s latest reports call attention to the improvement of local governments’ housing stock and its planned use

The State Audit Office of Hungary (SAO) audited the utilisation of the housing stock owned by three districts of the capital and three cities with county rights between 2018 and the first half of 2023. The findings include that although the number of low-comfort housing units has decreased in all six local governments, the low level of spending on development and renovation poses a risk to preserving the value and condition of the housing stock owned by the local governments.

Bilateral meeting with the Chamber of Accounts of the Republic of Uzbekistan

On 26 November 2024, Dr. László Windisch, President of the State Audit Office of Hungary welcomed Mehriddin Abdullayev, First Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Accounts of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and his delegation at his Office. In the framework of the bilateral meeting, the Hungarian and Uzbek supreme audit institutions concluded a Memorandum of Understanding document on sharing methodological and technological knowledge to support the development of public auditing.
