From 15 to 17 October 2024, the Audit Office of the Republic of Cyprus hosted an event where Heads of SAIs of EU countries discussed the issue of the independence of SAIs at a conference, in addition to attending the EU Contact Committee meeting. The State Audit Office of Hungary was represented at the event by its President, Dr László Windisch.
At the meeting of the EU Contact Committee (CC), which brings together the EU SAIs and the European Court of Auditors, participants discussed current audit challenges and shared their audit experiences.
The CC meeting was accompanied by a high-level conference on the independence of SAIs. The agenda of the conference covered the international framework for SAIs’ independence, the challenges for the functioning of SAIs, as well as future directions and opportunities for development.
