The OECD organised a high-level event in Paris on 28-29 January 2025. The main topics of the conference included performance auditing, audits on sustainability issues and empowering public understanding. The SAO was represented at the conference by its President, Dr. László Windisch.
The international conference organised by OECD was attended by SAIs from more than 30 countries, including delegations from the SAIs of Brazil, France, Germany, Israel, Japan, Mexico, Portugal and the USA. The heads of SAIs attending the event focused on how SAIs can contribute to fiscal and environmental sustainability.
Several speakers reported that performance auditing and spending reviews are key elements in their work to find appropriate responses to current economic challenges. Other supreme audit institutions are striving to ensure that the impact of decisions is communicated to society in a transparent and understandable way through a continuous and systematic multi-channel communication to the public. Participants agreed that the use of artificial intelligence both during audits and when informing citizens could be a major step forward in the work of SAIs.
