Dr László Windisch, President of SAO of Hungary, attended the 30th Anniversary Gala of the Supreme Audit Office of the Slovak Republic on 28 March in Bratislava, and personally congratulated his Slovakian counterpart President Ľubomír Andrassy.
President of the Czech partner institution, Miloslav Kala, delivered a speech during the official anniversary ceremony. While the conference following the Gala was held under the patronage of Zuzana Čaputová, President of the Slovak Republic.
During his visit in Bratislava, President of SAO of Hungary had bilateral consultations within the framework of a working lunch with its Slovakian partner on future cooperation between the two supreme audit institutions.
SAO of Hungary has maintained close professional relations with its Slovakian partner institution for decades. They signed a joint agreement to facilitate the exchange of professional experience at the end of the 1990s. In addition to conducting multiple coordinated audits on cross-border issues, intensive professional cooperation between the two institutions is also demonstrated by the fact that, SAO of Hungary has been invited by SAI of Slovakia to participate in a so-called “peer review” of its operations between 2020 and 2021.
Besides the above, special attention should be drawn to the joint work of the two institutions carried out in the framework of the V4+2 cooperation since the early 1990s, during which member SAIs (countries of the Visegrad Group, Austria and Slovenia) are aiming to turn mutual challenges arising from their similar economic, social and cultural backgrounds into opportunities. Presidents of the Polish and Slovenian SAIs, Marian Banaś and Jana Ahčin, and the Director General for International Relations of the Austrian partner institution, Ronald Rödl, also attended the celebrations, hence it was also an opportunity for the members of the V4+2 network to strengthen their ties further.
